CorDEX Instruments current Centurion XP series of digital cameras for hazardous environments are already delivering important benefits to their users in the USA. By comparison with alternatives, they remove the need for time-consuming protocol, provide far greater flexibility in use and above all make imaging easier, quicker and more cost-effective.

These application and performance advantages have led to steady demand for the CorDEX Centurion XP Series cameras in the US. They have enjoyed early success even though, until now, the design has only carried certification to confirm its compliance to the European ATEX Directive for hazardous area working.

“Although ATEX and the U.S. CSA Directives do the same job, our U.S. customers are naturally more comfortable with a product that carries safety credentials they recognise,” explained CorDEX General Manager, Marcus Halliday. “And that’s why I’m pleased to announce that we have just been awarded the CSA Mark for our Centurion XPC.”

Indeed as a result of this development the U.S. will have its very own model of Centurion digital camera, the Centurion XPC, indicating its CSA compliance for use in Class I Division 1 B, C, D hazardous (explosive) areas. And the potential for this model in the U.S. is huge as its application scope spans many industries where danger of vaporous explosions is an issue.

Currently two distributors are responsible for CorDEX sales in the US, one in Texas and the other in New York State. “With CSA certification we expect interest to increase dramatically,” Marcus Halliday concludes, “So our focus now is on recruiting new channel partners and distributors to keep pace with growing demand.”
