Can simplicity and flexibility co-exist in the same camera?
Jai's design philosophy is to produce machine vision equipment that is both simple but is also sufficiently flexible and adaptable to serve a variety of needs and situations. Their two new camera link versions of the popular 0.4 megapixel C3 series, the CM-040MCL (monochrome) and the CB-040MCL (Bayer colour) satisfy all the above.
All cameras in Jai’s C3 suite share a common design philosophy:
“Make it simple to meet diverse applications and work-environment needs.”

Superficially, the above statement does, indeed, appear contradictory. However, Jai's design philosophy is to produce machine vision equipment that is both simple but is also sufficiently flexible and adaptable to serve a variety of needs and situations.

That they have continued their philosophy is evident in the form and function of their two new camera link versions of the popular 0.4 megapixel C3 series, the CM-040MCL (monochrome) and the CB-040MCL (Bayer colour)Based on strong customer demand, these two new progressive scan cameras, join the list of models Jai provide as part of their C3 Compact series of cameras, made for customers who require small size and high quality but with advanced functionality at a cost-effective price.

At 776 x 582 pixels, the 040 models provide slightly greater resolution than basic VGA models while maintaining a high frame rate of 60 fps. The cameras utilize the Sony ICX415 CCD and, while at full resolution, output is at 61 frames/second, higher frame rates can be achieved by using the partial scan (up to 280 fps) or vertical binning modes (111 fps).

Countering the trend of many manufacturers who are offering GigE camera models, Jai has released these Mini-CameraLink models because they are ideal for applications that need higher bandwidth, real-time signalling, and lower latency than is possible using GigE interfaces.

Key features of the CM-040MCL and CB-040MCL
*** 1/2 progressive scan CCD
*** 776 x 582 resolution
*** 8.3 µm square pixels
*** Video Output 8 or 10-bit in Mini-CL
*** Mass 115g. With right-angle adapter 155g
*** Dimensions 29 x 44 x 66 mm. With the optional right-angle adapter - 29 x 44 x 93.5 mm

Additional features
The CM-040MCL and CB-040MCL feature auto-iris lens video output to support dynamic lighting conditions usually found in outdoor applications such as Intelligent Traffic systems and Surveillance.

Both models are available with an optional factory-installed Right Angle Adapter. The adapter enables the camera to “look” at a 90º angle and is designed for a range of inspection tasks where physical access is limited.

How can I use the CM-040MCL and CB-040MCL Compact cameras in my application?
These cameras are suitable for deployment in:
*** Automotive industry (eg. inspection, high-precision gauging and process monitoring
*** Pharmaceuticals inspections (eg. Inspection of blister packages, fill level control)
*** Beverage industry (eg. control of fill levels of defective bottles)
*** Food industry (eg. sorting)
*** Electronics inspection
