As part of a recent UK investment program, Sulzer has built and equipped a dedicated in house test and development laboratory for high voltage coils. Other aspects of the program include upgrading key items of manufacturing equipment at the company’s Birmingham based Centre of Excellence for coil design, manufacture and supply. 

It has been announced that Schneider Electric has introduced its new FXI Series seven Process Gas Chromatograph, a faster, more reliable and safer gas and liquid composition process analyser. A high-voltage analogue input module has been developed by Yokogawa Electric. It will be released on July 9 as part of the OpreX Data Acquisition family of data collection and control solutions. The GX90XA-10-V1 module enables Yokogawa recorders and data loggers to be used in performance evaluation tests for the development and production of electric vehicles (EVs), fuel-cell vehicles (FCVs), and plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHVs) as well as the on-board batteries used in such vehicles.

"Simplifying the measurement industry" is MonoDAQ CEO Dino Florjancic's description of his company's strategy, a claim backed by the launch at Sensor+Test 2018 of the MonoDAQ E-ACC accelerometer amplifier. The module increases the accuracy of acceleration and vibration measurement because it can be placed close to the sensor, so making a substantial saving on cabling.

Flowmeter technology has made some significant steps in the past few years. While the traditional mechanical systems have remained relatively unchanged, the development of ultrasonic, sonar and magnetic systems has progressed significantly. Bürkert for example has developed a flowmeter in which none of the components are in direct contact with the fluid and which causes no restriction to flow.

With FieldSense technology as the key feature, this device supports measurement of AC current, voltage and frequency without the need for test leads. Thanks to the open current clamp, direct contact to live points using measuring tips is no longer necessary.
