Libelium, a technology leader in distributed wireless networks, announces a new Bluetooth module for its Waspmote wireless sensor network (WSN) platform. This module enables wireless sensor networks to be directly linked to portable devices such as smart phones, PDAs and laptop computers. This capability is particularly useful for medical applications and for industrial diagnostics. Additionally, when combined with the Meshlium multi-protocol router, it supports the deployment of hybrid ZigBee- and Bluetooth-based wireless sensor networks.

Inertial Aerosystems have launched a new, miniature, low cost, Quartz Dual Axis Rate Sensor (QDARS) manufactured by U.S. based Systron Donner. Designated QRS28, it is designed to measure angular movement in two orthogonal axies. Ideal for military and demanding commercial uses where stabilization of moving or vibrating platforms is an issue, it has simple DC to DC operation using two of Systron Donner's MEMS gyrochip rate sensors

Meggitt Sensing Systems, the makers of Wilcoxon Research vibration sensors and sensor networks, has added three new accelerometers with M12 connectors to its product line. The M12 connector makes it easy to implement vibration monitoring where the existing infrastructure is already built around the M12 standard, such as the process industries. Several compatible M12 connector-cable assemblies are also now available.

Sensortechnics’ HDI sensors measure absolute, differential or gage pressures in various ranges from 10 mbar up to 5 bar.
