Two linear motors have been added to Moticont’s SDLM Series of high speed direct drive linear motors, also known as Electric Cylinders. These compact drives with a 25.4mm (1.0”) stroke are just 25.4mm (1.0”) in diameter and 95.3mm (3.75”) long. These direct drive linear motors feature resolutions of 5µm (0.000197”) and 1.25µm (0.000049”).

The programmable linear Hall-effect sensor IC, A1377 from Allegro MicroSystems Europe is designed for applications that require high accuracy and high resolution without compromising bandwidth. The new device uses segmented, linearly interpolated temperature compensation technology which greatly reduces the total error of the device across the whole temperature range.

  Adding to its Inspector 2D vision family, SICK has developed the InspectorP, its first fully user-programmable range of 2D cameras with the performance and flexibility needed for critical vision duties in verification, inspection and quality control.

Demonstrating the ease in which digital data can be transferred to and from Heidenhain’s most recent CNC system, is the high-performance TNC 640, which is capable of controlling all 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining centres including those with turning tables. They will be on show at Southern Manufacturing 2017.

Four new series of Murata inclination sensors that are claimed to have the best shock durability on the MEMS market are now available in Europe at TTI. The inclinometers help determine the 3D position of agriculture and construction equipment when operating in rough outdoor environments, as well as high accuracy levelling and inclination measurement instruments and platform levelling and stabilisation applications.

  Rounding off its portfolio for the wireless connection of sensors is the new WIS 2 (Wireless Inductive System 2), and now moving to machine parts with a higher-performance system, Pepperl+Fuchs have started the year well.

Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) overmoulding is in included by Variohm EuroSensor as a part of a broad range of manufacturing capabilities, for many of its sensor products and is able to provide this service on a sub-contract basis for other manufacturers.

The Safety Communication Layer of BiSS Safety was confirmed by TÜV Rhineland for suitability for safety-relevant communication up to and including SIL3, back in 2015. In future, Hengstler will offer this protocol for its rotary encoder portfolio in order to meet the steady growth in safety applications.

Now being used more comprehensively, the SC-System's family of signal conditioners by Pepperl+Fuchs, have a single rotation speed monitor with just a 6mm installation width, processes digital input signals of all binary sensors currently on the market and is now fitted with a restart inhibit.

The ALS31000 from Allegro MicroSystems is a unidirectional linear Hall sensor IC targeted at automotive and industrial applications such as displacement and angular position sensing which require high-accuracy operation combined with a small package size. The accuracy of this factory-programmed device is enhanced via end-of-line programming of the temperature coefficient to optimise both sensitivity and quiescent voltage output across the full operating temperature range.
