  A new version of the HI 6600 Modular Sensor Systems for PROFIBUS-DP control systems has been announced by Hardy Process Solutions. PROFIBUS-DP (Decentralised Peripherals) is used to operate sensors via a centralised controller in production (factory) automation manufacturing applications.

The new SICK OD5000 displacement sets new performance standards when accurate, wafer-thin measurement is needed in electronics and solar photovoltaic manufacture. With a high measuring frequency up to 80kHz and resolutions down to 0.003µm, the OD5000 promises consistent and reliable laser-based displacement measurement of coatings, deposits, gaps and glass layers.

Setting new standards in high-precision distance measurement, the SICK OD1000 displacement sensor has extremely long 1m scanning range and a resolution down to 450µm. Developed by SICK to achieve high consistency and linearity in measurement results on many different surfaces and colours, even at high production speeds, the OD1000 goes the extra distance for performance and value.

  Printed organic photodetectors and large-area image sensors innovator, Isorg has announced its first large-sized high-resolution (500dpi) flexible plastic fingerprint sensor, co-developed with FlexEnable, has won the 2017 Best of Sensors Expo - Silver Applications Award.

Accelerometers and velocity meters are used to measure a wide range of frequencies, including low frequency vibrations found in building maintenance. They occur at less than 2Hz, and can also be useful in monitoring bearing wear in cooling tower fans and gearboxes for example.

An amperometricFree Chlorine Analysis Systems has been introduced by Endress+Hauser and is compliant to EPA Method 334.0. The systems eliminate the need for costly reagents and accompanying required maintenance, making the system suited for applications in drinking water, industrial water, power and other industries where water is disinfected using chlorine.

LED-based CO2 detector specialists, Gas Sensing Solutions (GSS) is demonstrating it’s new, ultra-fast SprintIR6S at Sensors Expo 2017 in San Jose, USA. GSS' new SmartIR technology has enabled it to create a sensor that can take up to 20 readings per second, with a six times faster response rate than the current SprintIR due to it having a sample volume of only 2ml.  

  SKF has developed a new handheld instrument which combined with a smartphone app simplifies the collection and interpretation of critical machine condition data. The new QuickCollect sensor is SKF’s latest developed in moving towards digitalisation.

The Model 182 extensometer is a specialty high-performance strain gauge-based force sensor from the VPG Transducers brand of Vishay Precision Group. It is designed for industrial, EN15000 and EN280 compliant off-highway vehicle and equipment safety applications.
