Designed to maximize mixing efficiency, without wasting energy and causing blockages typically found in more restrictive motionless mixers, Chemineer’s HEV (High Efficiency Vortex) was specified by the Fluor Corporation for Abu Dhabi Gas Industries (GASCO), who are managing the Habshan gas plant expansion project on behalf of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC).
Fluor’s expansion of the Habshan complex sees the installation of two sulphur recovery units with a total capacity of 1,600 tons a day, a new acid gas enrichment unit and an increase in the capacity of the pressure-boosting units to feed the additional associated gas from the Bab oil field for processing in the current gas treatment trains.
Chemineer’s HEV Static Mixer maximizes the conversion of the plant’s turbulent energy into efficient mixing, producing complete stream uniformity through controlled vortex structures generated by the mixing elements.
The gas processing and natural gas liquid (NGL) extraction operations take place at Habshan and three other desert plants. The processed products are then transferred to various downstream plants and to customers through a network of pipelines. Gas delivered into the distribution network is mainly used as fuel for power generation and water desalination throughout Abu Dhabi.
