Solenoid valves bring safety to beverage dispensing systems

Solenoid valves bring safety to beverage dispensing systems
A Low-Lead Brass body (LLB) series of solenoid valves has been designed by parker Hannifin for applications in the beverage dispensing industry. Designed for fitment into coffee machines, drinks vending machines and automatic water dispensers, the valves feature stainless steel pilots. They have many potential uses in dispensing systems, including: boiler water-loading control, steam control, cold, hot and superheated water shut-off, cold water and steam mixing and steam pressure control.

Pump bearings result in massive cost savings for energy plant

Pump bearings result in massive cost savings for energy plant
As frequent failures can occur on the centrifugal pumps for water recirculation of a large CHP (combined heat and power) plant in Romania, the company asked NSK and its local distributor to perform an on-site bearing investigation. The outcome identified poor lubrication of the pump bearings as the source of the failures, with NSK recommending the adoption of sealed-for-life bearings featuring DDU seals and high-temperature grease.

Top government award given to university KTP collaboration

Top government award given to university KTP collaboration
A University of Huddersfield professor has collaborated with and a world-leading engineering firm as part of the latest research project which has been hailed by a Government body. Professor Rakesh Mishra, an expert in fluid dynamics, has formed a sequence of Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) with Weir Valves & Controls UK, part of the UK-based multi-national Weir Group. The projects have led to massive sales increases and cost savings.

Volumetric dosing pump offers high precision rates

Volumetric dosing pump offers high precision rates
The latest release from Intertronics, the preeflow eco-PEN330 volumetric dosing pump, offers manufacturers precision application of fluids and pastes from a minimum of 0.002ml, at rates of up to 3.3 ml/min. The preeflow progressive cavity pump technology handles delicate fluids from watery up to a pasty consistency without damage, and since the system is both temperature and input pressure independent it can provide ±1% accuracy and better than 99% repeatability.

How to optimise pneumatic for cost and performance benefits

How to optimise pneumatic for cost and performance benefits
Compressed air is sometimes referred to as the 4th utility. In many sectors of industry, it is as important to the viability of an operation as electricity or water. For this reason, it is important to pay the same degree of attention to the optimisation and correct operation of pneumatic systems as to other utilities, for cost, performance and reliability reasons. High density pneumatic valve island reduces installation costs

High density pneumatic valve island reduces installation costs
A major update to the ASCO Numatics G3 Series electronic valve island platform has been announced by Emerson, which enables a reduction in installation costs. The valve island has been expanded so that it can control up to 128 solenoid valves on a single valve island assembly. This allows more valves to be controlled from a single node, enabling savings in the number of nodes and the cabling, internal tubing and electrical connections in the cabinet.
