Starrett, has launched a new range of carbide tipped deep cut (CTD) hole saws. The new range is an ideal solution for the repeated intensive drilling of stainless steel, non ferrous metal, aluminium and copper of any thickness up to 25mm. The hole saw is designed for use by contractors in the electrical, mechanical, building, construction, HVAC, plumbing and other fitting sectors.

The new hole saw comes completely assembled, ready for use and features three different angles ground on to the cutting face of each tooth on the saw. This three-ply tooth grind delivers a fast cut, minimal snag when the saw begins the cut and efficient swarf removal, resulting in fast cutting performance, minimal heat build-up and maximum saw life. An ejector spring aids ejection of the core from the saw.

"One of the biggest challenges contractors face is the variety of surfaces they have to deal with on a day-to-day basis," explained John Cove, Marketing Manager at Starrett. "Different materials including masonry, brickwork, plastic, wood, and steel all have different characteristics. In these situations, a one-size-fits-all approach simply does not work.

"This is why we developed this new range," continued Cove. "The carbide tipped deep cut hole saw can be run at a much faster drill speed and will cut more quickly than a standard hole saw through sheet stainless steel up to 25mm thick, enclosures, pipe work and structural steel work and it can be used with mains powered or cordless fixed and portable drills."

The new carbide tipped deep cut hole saw is available in two kits, one containing eight saws from 16-64mm and another containing seven saws from 16-50mm. The kits are protected by a tough case to keep the saws safe and ready for use. Replacement pilot drills and ejector springs are also available and individual saws are available in a range of diameters from 15-100mm.
