Software solutions for the Smart Factory

Showcasing its Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technology and smart factory solutions, COPA-DATA UK will be at this year’s Industry 4.0 Summit. The conference will be held at the Manchester Convention Centre on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th April and will run parallel to the Factories of the Future Expo where COPA-DATA will be exhibiting at booth R35.

Alongside an exhibition of the latest technologies and services available for the smart factory, the summit includes a series of seminars from industry experts.

COPA-DATA’s software system, zenon, has been used in the automation and the energy industries for over 30 years. The software is designed to control, monitor and optimise machinery and equipment. zenon’s strength is in open and reliable communication for heterogeneous production facilities - with open interfaces and over 300 native drivers and communication protocols supporting the horizontal and vertical integration. Projects with zenon are highly scalable, allowing for continuous implementation of the Industrial IoT and the Smart Factory.

As an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) pioneer, and a prolific figure in Industry 4.0, COPA-DATA will demonstrate its end-to-end software solutions for today’s smart manufacturing and smart grid facilities.

In 2016, COPA-DATA won the worldwide Microsoft Partner award for the ‘Public Sector: Microsoft CityNext’ category for the company’s efforts in ever-improving technologies for smart grids and smart cities. At the Industry 4.0 Summit, COPA-DATA will demonstrate how its industrial automation software, zenon, can support the smart infrastructures and respond to the demand for smarter factories.

“The ‘Industrial Internet of Things’ and ‘Industry 4.0’ are two terms that are increasingly used in industry discussions, specialist trade publications and the mainstream media,” explained Martyn Williams, Managing Director of COPA-DATA UK. “However, many organisations are yet to realise the full potential of connected technology both inside and outside of the factory walls.

“Traditionally, operational technology and information technology function in isolated systems, but with the introduction of innovative, affordable and scalable technologies, there is an increased level of connectivity on the factory floor, meaning that these technologies are converging. At the summit, COPA-DATA will demonstrate how manufacturers can embrace these technologies using our intelligent automation platform, zenon.”

At the event, representatives from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Institute of Engineering and Technology and automation association GAMBICA will be delivering keynote speeches and seminars on industry trends and topics.

The exhibition will be attended by manufacturing professionals from across the UK and Europe. Engineers, factory managers and buyers of industrial technology are invited to view demonstrations of the latest advances in automation, robotics, software, sensors, virtual and augmented reality.
