High precision drive technology expert Harmonic Drive UK will showcase its range of planetary gearsat the Manufacturing & Engineering North East event at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on July 7 and 8. Harmonic Drive can be found at stand number E8.
The Staffordshire-based precision gear and servo actuator specialists have over forty years of experience in manufacturing and provide innovative and high quality products for a range of industry sectors, including the aerospace, defence and automotive industries.
Manufacturing & Engineering North East is a new event, created to act as a platform for manufacturers, engineers and their suppliers, in the North East and nationally, to meet, learn, solve problems and develop business.
At the exhibition, Harmonic Drive will showcase its range of planetary gears, with particular focus on its HPN Planetary Gear. The gears get their name from the way that a number of gears rotate like planets around a central 'sun' gear, surrounded by an outer annular ring gear.
The HPN series is available in five sizes, with eight gear ratios from 3 to 31:1 and can transmit repeatable peak torques between nine and 752 Nm. With a backlash of just five to seven arcmin, the gear series offers a precision solution ideal for low backlash applications.
"When we developed the HPN gear series we focussed our efforts on creating a design that combined high torque capacity with low backlash," explained Graham Mackrell, managing director of Harmonic Drive UK.
"It has a compact, lightweight design and is able to run smoothly and extremely quietly; all features which make it ideal for industrial automation applications, such as the packaging industry. It can deliver shorter machine cycle times, saving time and costs and increasing productivity."
The gears are provided with two widely spaced bearings on the output side and are available with standard flanges for various motor types.
Manufacturing & Engineering North East will be held at Newcastle's Metro Radio Arena on July 8 and 9. Speaking at the event will be senior manufacturing and engineering professionals from leading brands across the aerospace, automotive, motorsport and electronics sectors, covering all areas of production, design and manufacturing management.
