Endevco to display state-of-the-art sensor technology at MD&M West medical design and manufacturing show

High reliability, repeatability and very small package size are key criteria for components designed to meet the exacting requirements of medical devices such as implantable rate response heart pacemakers and defibrillators. In 2007, Endevco reached a significant milestone with four million accelerometers delivered to leading medical device manufacturers with no field failures. Endevco has established a market leadership position by developing piezoelectric, self-generating sensor technologies and silicon-based MEMS sensor technologies for these very demanding applications.

Endevco products for medical applications spotlighted at MD&M West will include:
Model 40366 – Hermetically sealed, surface mountable, variable capacitance MEMS device configured as a 3-terminal half-bridge. It has a +/- 2 g full scale range for measurement of fractional-g acceleration in the presence of gravity and is designed to have low transverse sensitivity.

Model 12M1A – Piezoelectric accelerometer engineered for easy integration into standard hybrid or SMT electronic packages. It features low base strain sensitivity, low pyroelectric output, extremely high charge output in a very small envelope, and self-generating power capabilities.

Model 32394 – MEMS pressure sensor for applications requiring high sensitivity, overpressure capability and linearity in an extremely small package. It is available in 0-15 psia configuration, delivers nominal 200mV output when powered with 5 VDC, and can be flip chip mounted.

In addition, new applications for Endevco acceleration and pressure sensing devices include external and implanted drug therapy systems, implanted pain management devices, and methods to accurately measure traumatic brain injury.
