The latest offering to its customers for whom hygiene is critical is a stainless steel motor-based agitator drive. Supplied by Lafert, the ‘Marlin’ stainless motors, which have an 0.5RA (mirror) finish, are being employed initially for a bio-pharmaceutical application.
The Chemineer agitator/mixer is a portable unit that has a clamping arrangement which permits it to be mounted on the side of open mixing vessels. It has an 850mm shaft with maximum run out of just 0.05mm, effected by using a special shaft mounting with internal bearings and a heating process that ensures precise linearity of the shaft.
Lafert’s Marlin motor is employed because of its inherent superior hygiene features over conventional AC motors. Its smooth body and round terminal box ensure there is no place for dirt or product to become trapped and present potential product contamination problems whilst its IP66 rating means in can be safely hosed down, even when using cleaning chemicals. Also, being stainless steel any risk associated with rust and flaking paint is eliminated.
“The proof of success for any product is repeat orders and one of our customers has just placed a second order for this new complete stainless steel solution”, said Charlie Dolman, Application Engineer, Chemineer. “We believe the addition of a total stainless steel agitator/mixer provides us with yet another option to help us resolve the needs of our customers.”
