“This appointment is good news for users of Ameridrives couplings in Europe; it means that damaged but repairable diaphragm couplings will no longer have to be sent back to the USA for repair,” said Steve Broomhead, Business Unit Manager Bibby’s Turboflex Division. “This will mean a faster turn-around time, which is critical in the demanding applications where they are used.”
“Ameridrives is our sister company within the Altra Industrial Motion Group, and both companies share a rich history in the development of couplings for power transmission applications,” said Mr Broomhead. “In addition, we understand each others’ products implicitly. This means that Bibby is ideally placed to provide repair facilities, not least because we have years of experience in the repair of all types of couplings, but also because we have invested in all the equipment necessary – including new dynamic balancing equipment – to ensure that our repairs fully comply with Ameridrives original standards.”
Bibby’s repair service for Ameridrives products, is initially focussed on Ameridrives diaphragm couplings. First introduced in 1971, these units have been developed progressively to satisfy the demands for lighter yet more powerful couplings that set new standards for performance and reliability in some of the World’s most demanding applications, both on and offshore.
The repair of Ameridrives diaphragm couplings is being undertaken at Bibby’s head quarters and main manufacturing facility, based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England.
