Thomson Reuters bibliographic management software that includes EndNote Web and is used by millions of researchers, librarians and students worldwide, EndNote X3 for Mac OS X is now available from Adept Scientific.
EndNote X3 for Mac increases productivity for researchers by delivering new ways to group references and find full text when off campus, expanding AppleScript support for key EndNote tasks, offering new composite styles popular with chemistry journals and more.

“The EndNote integration with Apple® Pages ‘09 and the new EndNote X3 for Mac with its expanded AppleScript support, new grouping options and composite chemistry styles, deliver highly requested features for Macintosh users,” said Keith MacGregor, vice president, Scientific and Scholarly Research at Thomson Reuters. “We are mindful of the upcoming Snow Leopard release and will keep our users updated and current with the new operating system.”

Create custom workflows with EndNote and AppleScripts

EndNote X3 expands the existing AppleScripts so users can enhance searches as well as add references to groups. AppleScripts can also match existing EndNote references with local PDF files through the use of DOI and PMCID unique identifier data. EndNote X3 provides a detailed dictionary and documentation to help users automate these repetitive tasks and more.

Format bibliographies in new ways

EndNote X3 offers more ways to format bibliographies, including the ability to manage multiple bibliographies within a Word document. Now a paper can have a bibliography at the end of each section, at the end of the document, or both. Additionally, EndNote X3 supports composite styles, popular with chemistry journals, which group citations by number and letter. Users can also search for and insert citations in Apple ® Pages ’09 and format bibliographies just as they can in Microsoft Word.

Improve organisation with new grouping options

EndNote X3 users can now create groups containing both Custom and Smart Groups, providing more options for viewing and organising their references. The main and sub-groups can be re-arranged at any time with a simple drag-and- drop action. And, EndNote X3 makes it easier to find more full text articles for references automatically by employing a new preference for EZProxy, commonly used by researchers and students to access online resources when they are off-campus.

Work on the desktop and Web

EndNote now includes EndNote Web, expanding the work environment for EndNote users and allowing them to choose the best environment, desktop or Web, for the task at hand. With EndNote Web researchers can collect references when away from their desks, transfer references between the desktop and Web and collaborate with colleagues by sharing EndNote groups. EndNote users can also use EndNote Web to organise personal publication lists for ResearcherID, a free online author community, and view personal citation metrics in ResearcherID, complete with dynamic links to Times Cited detail from ISI Web of ScienceSM, the Thomson Reuters premiere online platform for citation data.

Other features of the upgrade include:

• Compare duplicate records side-by-side for easy review.
• Start EndNote faster – EndNote X3 loads content files more efficiently and allows customisation.
• Use more options when compressing EndNote libraries – choose all references or a selection, with or without file attachments.
• Connect and publish with 3,900+ connection files, 700+ Import files and 3,700+ journal styles!
