Engineers from TDK-Lambda UK supported a team of students from The Ilfracombe Academy with its entry to the international STEM competition, F1 in Schools. This is part of an extensive programme that TDK-Lambda engineers are engaged in to help promote, encourage and support STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education to young people across the region.

Deposition is a process that is regularly used to coat a thin layer of precious materials (gold, chrome, titanium, etc.) onto a substrate that is ‘technically poor’ or with different mechanical characteristics; the primary reason for using thin layer coatings is to obtain a better surface property, which can range from improved hardness or resistance to corrosion, to a glossy or matt appearance.

TDK Corporation announces that the TDK-Lambda Vega is now approved to IEC/EN 60601-1, ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No 60601-1-08 3rd Edition medical safety standards – this is in addition to the current approval to the 2nd Edition, ensuring full safety approval for medical equipment is maintained during the transition period from 2nd to 3rd Editions. Typical applications for the Vega range include medical, industrial control, computing, automation, security, network servers and routers, broadcast, communications, lifesciences/laboratory, instrumentation and ATE.

TDK-Lambda UK, a group company of the TDK Corporation, introduces its next generation of digitally controlled, AC-DC medical power supplies – the single output CFE400M, which is available in convection and fan cooled versions. Combining a 4kVac reinforced input-to-output isolation with dual fusing and an output-to-ground isolation of 1500Vac, the CFE400M meets IEN/EN/UL/CSA 60601-1 Ed 2 & 3 safety approvals for medical equipment, suitable for BF (body floating) type medical applications.

DTM-C Range of Medical AC-DC External Power Supplies from TDK-Lambda
TDK-Lambda UK has introduced the DTM-C series of medically-certified AC-DC external power supplies – the DTM65-C model with output power ratings from 40 to 65W and the DTM110-C rated at 90 to 110W. Offered with a choice of output voltages from 12 to 48Vdc, the DTM-C series operates from a universal AC input of 90 to 264Vac (47-63 Hz). With average efficiency greater than 87% and offload power consumption of less than 0.5W, all models in the DTM-C series comply with ErP (Energy Related Products), EISA (Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007), CEC (Californian Energy Commission) and Global Efficiency Level V regulations.
