Yesterday (Sunday 23rd June) saw the return of International Women in Engineering Day. A day that celebrates the women that make a difference in the engineering sector and also highlights the challenges the industry still faces in encouraging young women into an engineering career. In research conducted by Subcon in early 2019, it states that 59% of businesses in the UK believed that enough was being done to encourage women into the industry.  

  Seymour Civil Engineering is calling upon women in the region (North East) to help close the ever-growing skills shortage within the region's engineering sector.

Seymour Civil Engineering and Barnes Construction have celebrated their respective 40th anniversaries with the completion of a £2m public house development in Skelton. The Longacre is the latest pub development from Marston’s PLC, located at the newly-developed Skelton Park on Pheasant Fields Lane.

  At this year's ICE North East annual dinner, Seymour Civil Engineering’s passion for inspiring and nurturing future generations of civil engineers was formally recognised as the company was presented with the Mike Gardiner Cup, for the second year running.  

One of the North East’s civil engineering firms, Seymour Civil Engineering, has launched its own company training portal set to digitally change the way construction sites are run. The portal focuses on the training and staffing side of projects allowing any site manager or client to have a clear snapshot of staff-on-site and their training credentials, whilst automatically prompting the system administration team before employee training requires renewal.

With the appointment of four new company directors, North East civil engineering firm, Seymour Civil Engineering, has taken further steps towards securing its future success. All hailing from existing roles within the company, Adam Harker has been named as Contracts Director, Simon Rodgers as Commercial Director, Stuart Dickens as Construction Director and Karl Brennan as Pre-construction Director.
