Extreme switchgear and sensors for the handling of bulk goods

Extreme switchgear and sensors for the handling of bulk goods
Switchgears and sensors are abrasive, like cement dust and sand; they are corrosive, like fertilisers; or they are explosive, like all organic dusts. The characteristics of dusts often make high demands on the design of any switchgear they come into contact with, and as if this were not enough, the plants where these substances are handled are often located outdoors, where damp and extreme temperatures pose additional challenges to electric components.

Position switches robust and resistant to cold

Position switches robust and resistant to cold
The offshore industry knows no fewer than four factors which make extreme demands on switchgear. There is a risk of explosions; switches are exposed to high levels of mechanical wear and tear; the environment is corrosive; and it can be very cold.

Compact and robust switch for use in temperatures down to -60°C

Compact and robust switch for use in temperatures down to -60°C
According to DIN EN 50047 the light and robust Ex 97 switching devices look like a completely normal compact position switch with standard dimensions. However the construction details of the Ex 97 switching devices with plastic housings now available from the steute business unit ‘Extreme’ make these devices unique.

Wireless switch & sensor suit explosive environments

Wireless switch & sensor suit explosive environments
Extreme, a business division of steute, has developed a technology making the installation and operation of switchgear in explosive environments easier.  With Wireless Ex, switching devices are no longer connected to the evaluation units in the control cabinet by ex-compliant cables, but via a wireless protocol developed by steute.

RF 13: extremely compact - and versatile - wireless switches

RF 13: extremely compact - and versatile - wireless switches
The outstanding feature of our new RF 13 wireless switchgear series is immediately obvious: these switches are extremely compact in their design. In figures: with housing dimensions of just 49 x 40 x 21 mm, they are the smallest self-sufficient wireless switches for industrial applications currently on the market. And - what you cannot see - they are also characterised by a switching performance to match that of any microswitch.

New freedom in the operation of machines and plants

New freedom in the operation of machines and plants
If the operator won’t come to the switch – then the switch must go to the operator. Bearing this principle in mind, steute has developed the RF HB-4CH wireless hand control, to be presented at the SPS IPC Drives for the first time. Development of this industry-compatible hand control was inspired by the steute business division Meditec, which provides high-quality controls for medical equipment.

Ex RF 95: Radio Position Switch for Ex Zone 21 without cable and battery

Ex RF 95: Radio Position Switch for Ex Zone 21 without cable and battery
Totally independent from external power supply the design engineer can apply the wireless position switch Ex RF 95. And the user does not have to care about the loading condition of a battery, since there is a miniaturized electrodynamic energy generator in the switch insert of the Ex RF 95, which generates exactly that energy quantity necessary for the transmission of a radio signal.

RF GFI/GFIS: Foot controls with new high reliability wireless technology

RF GFI/GFIS: Foot controls with new high reliability wireless technology
The advantages of wireless communication are particularly obvious in the case of foot controls. The units can be positioned at will and there are no cables to trip over or restrict movement. With the RF GFI/ GFIS series engineers wishing to exploit these advantages not only have a new series of wireless foot switches at their disposal; they can also use a new high reliability wireless standard developed by steute.
