Extended electrical choke capabilities on show

Extended electrical choke capabilities on show
REO UK is set to showcase its range of chokes and transformers at the virtual EMC and Compliance International (EMC&CI) event, taking place on 19th and 20th May, 2021. This follows REO UK having further expanded its choke manufacturing capabilities to produce electrical components that are more lightweight, thermally efficient and that provide lower losses.

Simulation testing ensures products are top quality

Simulation testing ensures products are top quality
Virtual Reality (VR) means much more than video games, as when purchasing an electrical device you’re invariably presented with a table featuring the part’s working parameters and operational limits. Discovering these limits takes a lot of testing, so can simulations simplify this process? Here, Steve Hughes, Managing Director of REO UK, discusses the details that go into simulating, stress-testing and prototyping electrical components.

Addressing the threat of interference

Addressing the threat of interference
Whether for condition monitoring or positioning control, fieldbus communication is crucial for connectivity in most modern manufacturing and process environments. Often, however, fieldbus systems are susceptible to ElectroMagnetic Interference (EMI) caused by switching in power supplies, motors and HVAC systems in a plant. Here, Steve Hughes, Managing Director of REO UK, explores the impact of EMI on communications and how this can be mitigated.

Rethinking electrical and electronics supply chains

Rethinking electrical and electronics supply chains
By most measures, the UK industrial sector has returned to an overall state of growth in recent months, following the downturn caused by the COVID-19 lockdown. However, it’s important that electronics and electrical businesses adapt their operations and supply chains based on what the events of 2020 so far have shown us. Here, Steve Hughes, Managing Director of REO UK, outlines some of the lessons to be learned from COVID-19 in relation to electrical supply chains and how REO has adapted.

An insight into the future of engineering

An insight into the future of engineering
In November 2019, REO UK celebrated 30 years of excellence in electrical engineering by releasing its book, R30: The past, present and future of power, on Amazon Kindle. Steve Hughes, Managing Director of REO UK and author of R30, shares some of the top-level insight explored in the book.

The power within the food chain

The power within the food chain
We take for granted what an important role electricity plays in the food chain; from powering microwaves to keeping fridge-freezers running. Yet even before products reach the hands of consumers, a constant supply of reliable power is required to ensure that food is produced safely and properly. Steve Hughes, Managing Director of power quality specialist REO UK, explains how electrical engineers can protect food manufacturing plants from power quality problems.

Voltage stabiliser targets countries with unstable power

Voltage stabiliser targets countries with unstable power
The REOSTAB, a range of single and three-phase mains voltage stabilisers has been launched by REO UK to protect industrial equipment from electrical damage in countries with unreliable power grids. The product comes at a time when UK engineering companies are turning to new export markets to mitigate for the fall in the UK exchange rate.

It's good enough for the Golden Gate Bridge

It's good enough for the Golden Gate Bridge
Everyone is familiar with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, and over two billion cars have actually driven across it since its opened back in 1937. With this constant flow of traffic, combined with the salty sea air and San Francisco’s notoriously foggy weather means that maintenance workers use an anti-corrosion paint coating to protect the bridge’s steel components. Steve Hughes, Managing Director of power quality specialist REO UK, explained how manufacturers of electronic components can protect their products from the elements.

Water-cooled power controller offers extended lifespan

Water-cooled power controller offers extended lifespan
The REOTRON MDW 700WK offers reliable regulation of current, power and voltage as well as integrated current and voltage monitoring from absolute zero to 10V. The module can be easily switched between two modes; three phase-angle, ideal for controlling ripple sensitive electrical loads, and burst-fire up to 3x450A, better suited to applications that require low radio frequency interference (RFI).

Waste not, want not

Power quality expert REO UK has developed a Profinet I/O module designed for food production machines that can be easily integrated into Industry 4.0 networks. The module returns operational metrics to a supervisory system, allowing for easy monitoring of all production processes. This results in increased operational efficiency and reduced waste by providing accurate feedback on the position of actuators.

Industrial systems given added protection

Industrial systems given added protection
REO UK has launched a new range of 5-limb chokes targeting electromagnetic interference (EMI) problems in industrial applications. The CNW range is available in two variants, the liquid cooled series-835 motor choke and the series-915 three-phase line choke. Offering a 40 per cent weight and volume reduction on previous models, the new CNW range features high thermal dissipation and a maximum current rating of 1200 A.
