Servo motor system is robust and low-cost

Servo motor system is robust and low-cost
A combined motor and resolver claimed to be robust while also lower in cost, smaller in size and lighter in weight than other servo motor systems, has been launched by QuickSilver. This is because the sensor in the Mosolver is based on a polymide sensor coil, therefore, unlike other systems, the environmental limits of the servo aculator are limited by the motor rather than the sensor.

NEMA 23 Servo Motor with Improved Efficiency and Power

QuickSilver Controls, Inc. expands its line of servo motors with the QCI-A23L-3. This servo motor provides almost 33% higher power output capability than the similarly sized motor it replaces. This power increase comes with an efficiency improvement of approximately 15% over the speed range of the motor.

Servo Motor Controller QCI-D2-IGK

QuickSilver Controls, Inc. introduces a low cost CiA DSP 402 CANopen servo motor controller. The SilverDust IGK is a stand alone, single axis controller that includes serial communications (RS-232, RS-485), CANopen and 7 I/O. CANopen can be configured for peer-to-peer, master or slave which allows the controllers to share I/O with other CANopen controllers and 3rd party CANopen devices (i.e. I/O blocks, encoders,…).

CiA 402-CANopen Drives and Motion Control Profile

QuickSilver Controls, Inc. adds CANopen DSP 402 (CiA DSP 402 v3.0) to its line of controllers/drivers for NEMA 11, 17 and 23 frame brushless servo motors.

Tightening Application

QuickSilver uses its ability to precisely control torque and position to solve tightening applications. The most common tightening applications are caps or nuts. These types of applications require accurate control of torque and position to avoid stripping, under tightening, over tightening, missing bottles, cross-threading, and mechanical jams.

Winding Application

QuickSilver adds winding to its repertoire of features. QuickSilver’s unique ability to handle large inertial loads allows us to direct drive large product reels. The advanced PVIA™ servo control algorithm provides impressive stability from full to empty reels. Precise torque control of the brushless servo motor and programmable controller’s electronic slip clutch feature (“drag” mode) allows the servo motor to keep constant web tension as wind/unwind reels payout and take up product.

OEM Servo Motor Controller with CANopen and CiA 402

QuickSilver has added a CANopen option to its OEM servo motor controller. CANopen may be configured for peer-to-peer, master or slave. This allows the controllers to share I/O and registers with other CANopen enabled SilverDust™ controllers or 3rd party CANopen devices (i.e. I/O blocks, encoders, PLCs…). For a multi-axis system, connect several IG-Js, make one the master and let the others receive motion commands over CANopen.

NEMA 34 Servo Motor QCI-A34M-1

NEMA 34 Servo Motor QCI-A34M-1
QuickSilver Controls, Inc. expands its line of brushless AC servo motors with the QCI-A34M-1. This is the least expensive 34 frame motor designed to run on the SilverNugget N3 servo motor controller/driver.

OEM Servo Motor Controller with CAN

OEM Servo Motor Controller with CAN
QuickSilver has added a CAN option to its smallest (2”/52mm x 2.5”/63mm) most cost effective servo motor controller. CAN can be configured for peer-to-peer, master or slave which allows the controllers to share I/O and registers with other CANopen enabled SilverDust controllers or 3rd party CANopen devices (i.e. I/O blocks, encoders, PLCs…). For a multi-axis system, connect several MG-Cs, make one the master and let the others receive motion commands over CAN.

3D Solid Models

3D Solid Models
QuickSilver Controls now has solid models for its motors and controllers. These models allow the designer to easily drop our motors and controllers in into their application’s solid model. They are available in STEP format (.stp). 3D views which allow rotation and zoom are available in Acrobat 3D format.

QuickSilver Used at The Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA)

As part of MoMA’s “Design and the Elastic Mind” exhibition, Hoberman Associates chose QuickSilver Controls to move the panels on its Emergent Surface sculpture. Emergent Surface is a transformable wall of 26 panels each controlled by a QuickSilver servo motor. The sculpture consists of 7 floor to ceiling poles each affixed with 3 or 4 servo controlled panels. The poles are of varying slopes such that the wall appears flat or twisted depending on your perspective. The wall can transform from solid to nearly invisible in a few seconds. Each panel is individually controlled allowing for a myriad of patterns.

Simple Servo Motor and Controller

Simple Servo Motor and Controller
For simple servo applications, QuickSilver offers the SilverDust IGF which features a compact DIN rail mountable design, 7 TTL level I/O (optional 24V with QCI-BO-B52), RS-232/485 serial interface, ASCII/Modbus protocol, and enough memory for several thousand lines of programming. Like the other SilverDust IG controller/drivers, the IGF comes with a built in regenerative braking circuit, single connector to motor, an on/off switch, and status LEDs.

NEMA 34 Servo Motor

NEMA 34 Servo Motor
QuickSilver Controls, Inc. expands its line of servo motors with the QCI-A34L-1. The 34L-1 only requires 4.5A which means a single cable can be used for both motor and encoder signals and the servo motor can be driven from a small SilverDust D2 controller.
