Mitsubishi Electric and ME-Automation Projects will launch a new distributed control system, the PMSX micro, at the RWM exhibition this year. The new system is designed specifically for smaller scale applications. PMSX micro runs on a single industrial computer and delivers proven control technology in an inexpensive and easily engineered package.

Mitsubishi Electric has expanded its iQ automation platform with the launch of two new ranges of controllers – the MELSEC iQ-R ‘next generation’ programmable automation controllers (PACs) and the MELSEC iQ-F range of compact PLCs. Each of the new products addresses different segments of the machine control, process control and automation markets, with industry leading performance and functionality. Both ranges benefit from unified interconnectivity with other iQ models, a unified programming environment and an improved user experience.

The Future Manufacturing Event being held at the AMRC (Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre) at Sheffield University and organised by Mitsubishi Electric has proved so popular since it was announced in January that it has now been extended to a second day in order to cope with demand.

Mitsubishi Electric’s first-time presence in the EfW (Energy from Waste) hall at the Resource Efficiency and Waste Management show (RWM) in Birmingham, UK, has been hailed as an immediate success.

Mitsubishi Electric Europe will be exhibiting at RWM 2014 – the resource efficiency and waste management show, being held in the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham UK, 16-18 September 2014. Mitsubishi Electric’s service and support commitment proved its worth at a West Midlands dairy. With downtime estimated at some £3000 per hour, service engineers were able to diagnose a blender problem in double quick time and restore operation to avert a production stoppage. The price pressures impacting on the dairy industry make unscheduled downtime the enemy of profitability.

One of the most ambitious wastewater treatment projects in Europe, designed to process several towns’ wastewater and improve water quality along the Sussex coast, has been speeded along because of the ease of integration of Mitsubishi Electric control equipment. Southern Water’s largest ever capital project, this £300 million environmental improvement scheme includes a new wastewater treatment works and sludge recycling centre, two pumping stations, 11km of sewer tunnel and a 2.5km long sea outfall.

Mitsubishi Electric Europe has been awarded a Certificate of Compliance for Function Blocks for Motion Control by PLCopen for its Simple Motion Module and GX Works2 software. The certification recognises the compliance of these products with IEC61131-3 standards in the implementation of motion control function blocks, and demonstrates Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to best practice in automation system design and to this important open standard.
