At the Anuga FoodTec trade fair in Cologne, taking place 20th to 23rd March 2018, Leybold will present its vacuum technologies for the food processing and packaging industry. The efficient solutions of the vacuum supplier are used worldwide. In a wide variety of applications, the pumps, systems and measuring devices of this long-established company make a significant contribution to sustainable and competitive products and processes in the food and beverage industry.

In order to meet increasing quality requirements, Leybold has launched the PHOENIX 4, a new family of helium leak detectors. This product is equally suited to the demands of research and development as for those of industrial applications - from securing the ultra-high vacuum demands in CERN's particle accelerator, to industrial applications such as leak detection in the Hyperloop vacuum transport system or for semiconductor production.

  Hanover Fair COMVAC is again this year the meeting place for the international compressed air and vacuum industry from 24-28th April. Leybold vacuum specialist, based in Cologne will also be using the stage to present its vacuum portfolio to the audience.

  Requirements for modern systems and analytical instruments are changing: users in laboratories and research facilities increasingly rely on low-noise, oil-free vacuum solutions to avoid contamination and, above all, unnecessary noise in laboratory environments.

The former company, Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum, now known as Leybold, is now owned by Atlas Copco, meaning Leybold now becomes part of the Vacuum Solutions Division, belonging to the Compressor Technique Business Area. With this acquisition, Atlas Copco trusts the strengths of the vacuum specialists at Leybold, founded in 1850, who will keep their traditional and well-known brand in the market.

First helium plasma was generated at the nuclear fusion reactor Wendelstein 7-X of the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) has been successful. On 10 December 2015, after more than ten years of construction and preparation, the researchers of the IPP succeeded in taking the world's largest fusion plant of the Stellarator type into pilot operation. The scientists have fed one-milligram of helium gas into an evacuated plasma vessel and successfully ignited the first plasma in the ring using vacuum technology from Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum.

Planning, predictability and process safety are concepts that are integral parts of an effective production environment. To achieve these objectives, a systematic approach is needed. Since 2013, Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum uses a monitoring solution in order to support its customer to achieve these objectives. Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum will participate at the ACHEMA in Frankfurt, 15.-19. June and at the THERMPROCESS / METEC in Dusseldorf, 16.-20. June.
