Motor and drive ranges launched at SPS Drives
Part of the Nidec group, Leroy-Somer is preparing for the launch of new ranges at SPS IPC Drives which is taking place from 28th to 30th November in Nuremberg. Leroy-Somer will be demonstrating Commander ID300, a new integrated drive for the control of its IMfinity induction motors from 0.25-7.5kW. This all-in-one drive solution has been designed to meet the strategic challenges of increasingly complex and demanding production environments, induced by the transition to Industry 4.0.

The launch of the Commander ID300 has been announced by Leroy-Somer, as a new integrated drive solution optimised for the control of IMfinity induction motors. Created through a combination of Leroy-Somer´s expertise in electronic variable speed control and its longstanding experience in the manufacture of proven electric motors, this decentralised system brings together performance and reliability, offering customised solutions for process, manufacturing and intralogistics applications.

Original cable-car transit system introduced in Brest
Two cable cars have been boosting the urban mobility in the French city of Brest, since November, which can carry up to 60 people who travel more than 400m above the River Penfeld, with a power consumption that is potentially close to zero. Supported by Leroy-Somer, the companies Bartholet France and Seirel are behind this achievement which is a world first in terms of technology.

Regenerative VSD technology aids limestone mine
The latest Powerdrive FX variable speed drive (VSD) with dynamic braking from Leroy-Somer, has been adopted by a metal and non-metal mining specialist based in the USA. The product is being used as a regenerative drive on a downhill conveyor at one of the company´s limestone mining facilities. Leroy-Somer was selected as supplier after the conveyor´s existing drive became obsolete.

Sugarcane deliveries in Thailand boosted by speed drive
A major sugar plant in Thailand is being helped by a Control Techniques Unidrive M600 variable speed drive, to guarantee the efficient delivery of sugarcane between processes. First established in 1946, Mitr Phol Sugar Corp produces two million tonnes of sugar a year from its various plants. To help produce this much sugar, Mitr Phol has to process around 20 million tonnes of sugarcane.

This major manufacturer of refrigeration equipment has just installed the refrigeration system for a new distribution centre belonging to Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc. The energy savings have been estimated at about 45,000 euros over 4 years.
