Founded in 1928, Hauliers, Longthorne of Hebden, in the Yorkshire Dales, is approaching its 90th birthday, and is into its third generation of management. Herbert Longthorne is the man responsible for founding the company, by buying a Chevrolet wagon for carting coal and cattle to local markets and thus founded a family business. In the 1930s the Chevrolet was replacedby a Bedford and Herbert was joined by his son Ken, who eventually took over running the business.
