The global manufacturer of energy chain systems and polymer plain bearings, igus, was asked for a control panel cable management system by the team from robotics company, ARAGON.

New felt seals have been designed and manufactured by igus to protect iglidur plain bearings from the adverse effects when running in excessive amounts of sand, dirt, and abrasive dust.

A ready-to-fit 7th axis has been designed and manufactured by igus to enable Universal Robots (UR) and robolink robots to travel several metres. igus have designed and manufactured a new high performance polymer well suited for the growing demands of the food production sector. The new iglidur A250 tribo-polymer, designed and manufactured by igus, is the a new polymer material in the company’s product range to meet the strict hygiene requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and EU 10/2011 regulations, while also meeting the growing demand for higher conveyor belt speeds.

A new energy chain system for intralogistics and crane systems has been designed by motion plastic experts, igus. The company, whose UK headquarters are in Northampton, has designed and manufactured the ‘autoglide 5 system’, a unique product which guides energy safely, for long distances and at a low cost. 

Two filaments can be joined together in a single production step to form a lubrication-free and robust component. Prototypes, spare parts, tools and low volume production: 3D printers from plastics specialist igus are now producing components with different filament materials. Specialised material properties can be easily combined in this 2-component 3D printing.

To help customers find the right iglidur material for the appropriate application, igus has developed a new compact, non-virtual material selector (a new sample box) for its 39 iglidur standard materials. The e-loop energy supply series which increases safety and reduces procurement and installation time has been expanded to suit static applications, including shore power supplies. Shore power offers the provision of electrical power to a ship at berth so that its main and auxiliary engines can be shut down.

A solar powered car using igus plain bearings has raced its way across more than 1,800 miles of Australian desert - helping Team Sonnenwagen win sixth place in the World Solar Challenge 2020. The team, made up of a group of students in Germany, approached igus, requesting lightweight, wear-resistant, and lubrication-free iglidur plain bearing technology made of durable tribo-polymers. This helped the team to comfortably finish in sixth place, having raced from Darwin to Adelaide in less than a week.

A new black coloured guide roller with smooth-running polymer ball bearings has been designed and manufactured - following a customer request and extensive testing by the team at igus.
