Following the publication of the 18th Edition of the IET Wiring Regulations, Hager has launched an industry-first automated chatbot to support electrical professionals with the revised regulations. As part of Hager’s wider ‘Regs Live’ programme, Reg, Hager’s automated chatbot, will provide a source of expert information; answering questions the professional electrician community has to help keep them up-to-speed with all things 18th Edition-related.

In the electrical industry, 80% believe that building automation and system connectivity is set to grow in importance for end users, and one in ten electrical consultants stating that connectivity solutions will be specified on all projects within five years, building automation is poised to become a significant market opportunity for many across the electrical sector. 

Paul Collins, Technical and Training Manager, Hager, has highlighted three key safety driven changes that could emerge as the 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations Standard BS 7671 review progresses through the public consultation phase.

Many electrical commercial projects remain highly focused on initial CAPEX considerations, despite strong evidence of the system performance, functionality and efficiency benefits to be gained by taking a holistic, long term and valued engineered view, according to the findings of a recent Hager consultation of electrical specifiers and consultants.

  As part of the review of the IET Wiring Regulations, in terms of public comments, Paul Collins, Technical Support and Training Manager at Hager shared his thoughts.
