Industrial processes have used thermocouples for temperature measurement for more than 100 years, but non-contact sensors are now increasingly used in their place.

The PyroMiniUSB, a new USB infrared temperature sensor from Calex Electronics Ltd, makes non-contact temperature measurement in benchtop, laboratory and education applications easier and more accessible than ever before. The new PyroNFC from Calex Elecronics is a small, low-cost infrared temperature sensor that lets engineers and machine operators use a smartphone app to check temperature measurements on the production line. The PyroNFC sensor measures the temperature of surfaces in industrial processes without contact, and at just 29 mm in length, it is the smallest sensor that Calex has ever produced.

Calex announces the new PyroCube, a general-purpose pyrometer with outstanding precision temperature measurement capabilities.

The PyroCube is a general-purpose pyrometer with precision temperature measurement capabilities from Calex. It offers built-in LED sighting. A red aiming light continuously illuminates the area of measurement, showing precisely where the sensor is aimed. The light spot is the same size as the measurement area, and measurements can be taken at the same time – the light does not affect the accuracy of the reading.

The new ExTemp series of intrinsically safe infrared temperature sensors from Calex Electronics is designed for use in ATEX and IECEx explosive atmospheres up to and including Zone 0 (gas) and Zone 20 (dust), in conjunction with a suitable safety barrier or isolator. 

The new PyroSight E series of infrared pyrometers from Calex Electronics is available with built-in through-the-lens laser sighting, and temperature ranges from -25°C to 2000°C.

Infrared temperature sensors from Calex Electronics have been used with success for over 7 years by a provider of packaged gas for measuring the temperature of gas cylinders as they are filled. Calex has developed a new Laser Sighting Tool for the successful “Pyro” series of non-contact infra-red temperature sensors.

The new Calex PPT245 DIN-rail mounted controller provides a highly versatile alternative to panel-mounted instruments and greatly simplifies the measurement and control of processes using non-contact infra-red temperature sensors. It has a single analogue input which is configurable for up to eighteen different sensors/signals, two relay outputs, and a third output which can be configured either as a SSR logic signal or a 4 to 20mA / 0 to 10V analogue signal for control or re-scalable retransmission of the process variable or setpoint. The analogue output can also be used to adjust the emissivity setting on a Calex PyroEpsilon non-contact temperature sensor.

The PyroCouple M series is a range of high quality, low cost, miniature infrared temperature sensors with separate electronics. They are capable of measuring temperatures in the range -20°C to 500°C and are available with either a current, voltage or simulated thermocouple output.

The PyroPen U from Calex Electronics is a pocket-sized infrared thermometer that conveniently clips into your pocket, just like a pen. It will measure temperatures from -20°C to +500°C with a resolution of 0.1° and provide instantaneous, maximum, minimum and average readings in °C or °F. Adjustable emissivity allows the unit to measure different materials and a built-in laser makes sighting simple.
