Tank scrapers - does size matter?

Tanks come in different sizes, but should rotating settlement tank scrapers be half, full or three-quarters in length? And what is the point of a standardised modular design for rotating settlement tank scrapers when no application is ever standard?

A&J Fabtech clarifies, the different length of tanks often dictates the format, for small tanks, for example around 30m diameter a half bridge scraper is usually the best option. Big tanks (up to 50m diameter) usually benefit from a full bridge design. For intermediate sized tanks three-quarter bridges are often a great option. They can carry extra features and provide optimised stirring for maximum operational effect.

A modular design allows rapid design and build, because parts and sub-systems can be prepared in advance using well-practiced procedures. The size and options can be selected to best suit each application.

The options available on any A&J Fabtech bridge include scum management systems, variable speed drive, bespoke inlet structures, wireless load monitoring, automatic lubrication, loss of motion detection, torque overload protection etc. Ancillary equipment, such as access ladders, stairs, walkways and handrails can be provided as part of the A&J package.

A&J Fabtech designs its bridge drives to provide the speed and power specified for each installation. This ensures reliability and therefore low maintenance and service requirements. Its three-quarter bridges are usually fitted with adjustable scraper blades, and these can even be reversed to double the working life.
