Called KASTOtwin A 4x5, the new machine is a heavy duty, double column, high performance bandsaw offering rugged cutting performance when processing solids, tubes and profiles, including tough alloys. Features from KASTO's top-end bandsaws have been integrated that reduce vibration and noise and increase blade life.
The machine is fully enclosed to ensure operator safety and stops automatically in case of blade breakage, blade slippage or absence of clamping pressure. The design encompasses not only current criteria but also those recommended by the international safety lobby for future inclusion.
The 850 mm infeed stroke of the material is driven by a ballscrew for accurate positioning. Cut lengths shorter than 250 mm can be achieved using an incremental feed feature, which reduces cycle times and increases output. Material height is detected automatically.
To achieve optimum results when cutting different types and shapes of material, the machine is equipped with a frequency controlled saw blade drive with infinitely adjustable cutting speed from 15 to 150 m/min. The hydraulic downfeed valve can be set for constant infeed rate, constant cutting force, or a combination of the two.
High precision and long life of the 38 mm wide blade are ensured by carbide band guides with anti-vibration rollers and heavy-duty guide arms. Hydraulic saw blade tensioning is electrically monitored, with automatic pressure reduction.
All functions of the machine are executed from the KASTO PLC system, BasicControl, which can store up to 99 programs, selectable by a keystroke, comprising material size and type, length of billets and number required.
Infeed and cutting cycles are automatic and require no operator involvement once the machine is set up and started. To increase productivity further and reduce material handling, the KASTOtwin A 4x5 can be equipped with a range of peripheral equipment such as loading magazines, discharge systems and marking devices.
