Designed specifically for efficient and cost-effective machining of steel and cast iron, the new MEGA-Speed-Drill from MAPAL enables users to achieve up to three times the productivity of conventional drills without any significant increase in tool costs.
The new drills are equally suitable for wet and dry machining, and provide dependable results in even the most demanding of applications.

The new and innovative cutting edge geometry featured by MEGA-Speed-Drills, which has an unequal cutting pitch and three guide chamfers, virtually eliminates vibration during machining and also greatly reduces friction. In addition, the drills have highly polished flutes that guarantee optimal chip flow.

These features, in conjunction with a special AlTiN coating, allow the drills to produce bores at more than twice the cutting speed and up to 30% higher feed rate than conventional drills. User experience has shown that these important benefits allow production costs in typical applications to be reduced by up to 50% compared with the use of standard carbide drills.

MAPAL’s new high-performance MEGA-Speed-Drills, which will allow a bore tolerance of IT10 to be achieved, are offered in standard versions with diameters from 3.0 mm to 20.00 mm for drilling depths of 3xD, 5xD and 8xD. All standard versions are configured for internal coolant supply.

In addition to the standard versions, MAPAL is also able to apply the innovative technologies used in MEGA-Speed-Drills to custom tools that are developed to meet special customer requirements not covered by the company’s standard product range.
