ESAB’S Caddy Mig Portable Mig/mag Welders Aid Maintenance At Noble Foods

The Noble Foods plant in Bilsthorpe recently upgraded its maintenance department through the acquisition of three ESAB Caddy Mig Portable MIG/MAG Welders.

“The maintenance staff at Noble Foods initially decided to move on from a competitor’s product to the ESAB Caddy Mig C160i. They liked that one so much they then purchased a further two Caddy Mig C200i units,” explains David Holey, Sales Representative for Engineering Welding Supplies Limited (Eng-Weld), an ESAB distributor.

“They use the Caddy Mig units for general maintenance work at three sites. At these depots they will generally be welding mild steel for the repair of equipment and machinery along with some stainless steel work. The Caddy Mig welders were chosen because of their portability and the superior capability of the units.”

Caddy Mig C160i
This portable MIG/MAG welding unit comes with a built-in wire feeder for Ø200 mm spools. Typically a Caddy Mig C160i is used for MIG/MAG welding of mild steels for repair, maintenance and assembly work. This easy to use and powerful unit offers excellent welding properties and is easy to take along to the job at hand. The Caddy Mig C160i has an efficient built-in inverter power source. Inside the side panel is the wire feeder as well as space for the wire spool. The use of advanced and modern materials provides a lightweight, durable and impact resistant housing which comes complete with inbuilt cable wraps for ease of transportation. The low weight of 11.4 kg makes easy to move to different worksites.

With Caddy Mig C160i you only need to set the plate thickness before staring to weld. Hotter or colder welds can easily be obtained by using the heat adjustment knob. The Caddy Mig C160i comes complete with a high quality torch, 3 m mains cable with plug, 4.5 m of gas hose with hose clamp and quick connector, return cable with clamp, simple shoulder strap and fitted wear parts in the torch/feeder for Ø0.8 mm wire. 1 kg OK Autrod 12.51, Ø0.8 mm is included.

The performance of this unit makes it an ideal choice for mild steel welding applications. Perfect
for tradesmen working with repair, maintenance or assembly work in the workshop, outdoors or at different sites. Single phase mains connection makes it easy to find an electricity supply although the unit works equally well when powered by a portable generator. Inbuilt PFC (power factor correction) gives 30 % more welding power from the same fuse size.

Caddy Mig C200i
The similar Caddy Mig C200i is also a portable MIG/MAG welding unit with built-in wire feeder for Ø200 mm spools. However this unit offers tradesmen the capability to weld mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel as well as brazing.

Caddy Mig C200i units are equipped with QSet - intelligent setting of welding parameters giving a perfect arc for all material and gas combinations. This provides single-knob control for consistent and optimal weld quality for all plate thicknesses.
