Compact high flow water filters reduce system needs and costs

The new 3M CUNO High Flow Filtration System has been designed to combine greater water flow rates with optimised performance. It has a compact filter and housing design that reduces costs by minimising system requirements whilst simplifying cartridge installation and removal.

An advanced radial pleat filter design permits flow rates of up to 113m³/hr (500 gpm) in a single cartridge, achieving flow requirements at lower cost, while an absolute rating promises reproducible effluent quality throughout the filter’s life.

Needing as few as a tenth the elements of traditional 2.5in pleated cartridges, its reduced filter usage also minimises labour and disposal costs, product loss and downtime for filter change-out.

Fewer elements combined with an ‘outside-to-in’ flow path enables housing size to be reduced, cutting capital investment costs as well as saving plant space. The system’s housing is said to occupy as little as half the size of other units for a given flow rate.

Easy to use and maintain, the user-friendly CUNO system’s ergonomic handle simplifies no-tool filter change-out with a simple ‘twist-lock’ cartridge seating mechanism giving a positive seal.

The system’s patent-pending compound radial pleat design maximises the usable surface per filter, with absolute rated particle retention characteristics. The media is specially embossed to produce a more uniform pleat pattern, giving greater media utilisation by evenly distributing fluid throughout the filter structure.

Housings are designed to deliver all system benefits in a compact footprint. They are offered in all standard designs and custom configurations in sizes to accommodate from one to seven filter elements in 40in and 60in lengths or larger on request, in horizontal or vertical configurations. Stainless steel external surfaces are glass-beaded for a consistent easy-care finish.

FDA compliant for direct contact in food and beverage applications in accordance with 21 CFR, the system is also ideal for industrial, municipal and chemical/petrochemical water quality control, RO pre-filtration and process water in electronics and pharmaceuticals.
