Clean Air installs Breezair to lower temperatures at London Taxis International
A successful blend of Clean Air Group’s technical know-how and Seeley International Europe’s Breezair Evaporative Cooling has provided London Taxis International (LTI) manufacturers of the famous ‘black cab’ with the solution to high temperatures in the company’s workshop area in Coventry. Such has been the success of the installation that Clean Air has gone on to install Breezair coolers to provide comfort in LTI’s offices as well.
LTI’s workshop is situated in a metal-framed building with a corrugated iron roof. An 1170 square metre area of the workshop is curtained off where welding is carried out. The combination of the building’s design together with heat generated from the welding equipment and no air movement pushed workshop temperatures up to around 40°C in summer, causing very uncomfortable working conditions for the 28 employees. The high temperature when combined with the welding fumes also created a very debilitating and unhealthy working environment.

Turning to Clean Air Systems to find an economic solution, the company calculated that just two Breezair coolers would be capable of providing sufficient cool, fresh air to overcome the problem. Installed on an outside wall with air ducted via a grill into the welding area of the workshop, the Breezair coolers have provided a steady flow of cooled air that has reduced temperatures and dispelled all the fumes.

Prior to placing the order, a director from LTI together with the Chassis Shop Manager and H&S Manager visited another Breezair installation in Coventry to see the system in action. Convinced that it would provide them with the solution they needed the order was placed with Clean Air Group.

“We used to have regular complaints about the heat and fumes”, said Tony Curtis, Maintenance Support Engineer at LTI. “Now employees in the welding area are really enjoying the benefits of the Breezair system with improved working conditions which have also translated into greater productivity from our staff.

The Breezair system is housed in a simple, clean, ultra-modern designed tough polymer casing specially developed to withstand all weather conditions. The Breezair's state-of-the-art components include an innovative water distribution system, which delivers continuous, balanced water coverage to all the pads. The world-patented system ensures maximum cooling efficiency and minimal maintenance problems.

A scientifically designed, aerodynamic fan provides a constant, even flow of air over the pads to provide a welcome cool breeze with minimal noise and low energy consumption. Other pioneering components include a highly efficient water pump that guarantees constant and reliable cooling when most needed, and a long lasting variable speed motor that gives maximum comfort level control.

The Breezair system is controlled by Seeley International’s Industrial Wall Control (IWC), which enables the Breezair cooling system to be controlled at the touch of a button. The IWC identifies any faulty cooler in a group and the cooler electronic module provides comprehensive fault diagnostics enabling it to be quickly repaired.

“Breezair provides a cost effective solution for cooling large areas and at the same time is ecologically attractive as it uses very little energy and emits no greenhouse gases or carbon products,” says Marie Wren, Managing Director of Clean Air Group. “Following the success of Breezair in LTI’s workshop, we were invited back to carry out a site survey of the offices and specified the installation of three Breezair coolers, ducting and grilles which we installed earlier this year”.
