Ruland Manufacturing Co., Inc. offers a full range of smooth bore shaft collars in 316-grade stainless steel to meet the demanding needs of food processing, medical and pharmaceutical applications. Food and drug processing facilities demand sanitized environments requiring the regular use of cleaning solutions, hot water and high-pressure sprays, with significant attention given to the elimination of both microscopic and particle level contaminants. These processes require equipment impervious to corrosive acids and salts often found in both raw materials and wash down solutions. 316-grade stainless steel includes more molybdenum than other grades and offers higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. Ruland exclusively uses hardware made from 316-grade stainless steel to ensure the full anti-corrosive benefits of the material in its collars.

Ruland shaft collars in 316-grade stainless steel are available in one- and two-piece clamp-style designs with bore sizes from 1/8 to 3 in the inch series and 3mm to 50mm in the metric series. Clamp-style collars do not mar the shaft, provide higher holding power, and are more easily adjustable when compared to set screw type shaft collars. All Ruland shaft collars are single point faced to ensure perpendicularity and proper alignment. A precise shaft collar face to bore relationship ensures that components are both properly positioned and not tilted on the shaft. Collar face perpendicularity also ensures even pressure on interfaced components.

Ruland also offers shaft collars in type 303 stainless steel, aluminum, black oxide carbon steel and engineered plastic. Shaft collars are part of Ruland's complete product line which also includes rigid couplings with precision honed bores and five types of zero-backlash motion control couplings: beam couplings, bellows couplings, oldham couplings, miniature disc couplings and curved jaw couplings.
