While Surface Technology is already providing wear and corrosion resistant surface coatings along with pressure testing and vacuum resin impregnation of porous materials to the aerospace industry, gaining AS9100 accreditation will give it a competitive edge in this increasingly demanding sector.
Andrew Courtney of Surface Technology, said: “I am delighted that Surface Technology’s commitment to quality, improving efficiency and meeting customer requirements has been reflected in the achievement of AS9100 Rev C.
“Surface Technology has been at the forefront of developing surface coatings for safety critical applications for decades and is constantly developing solutions for customers’ specific challenges.
“We will continue to improve our quality standards and customer satisfaction and we look forward to expanding our activities in the aerospace industry.”
Surface Technology already holds the ISO9001 quality management standard and the ISO14001 environmental management system standard.
AS9100 Rev C is the latest edition of this standard which recognises that a company has an independently audited quality management system that addresses the additional safety, reliability and quality concerns both within the aerospace industry and throughout the wider manufacturing and engineering sector.
Going beyond the requirements of ISO9100:2008, AS9100 Rev C includes additional requirements regarding regulatory compliance and a number of aerospace sector specific requirements.
