Data Centre Design and Build Specialist, Sudlows, has won a competitive £700,000 contract to build a secure data centre facility for Anglia Ruskin University.
The new Tier II+ facility designed by Sudlows Data Centre Consultants incorporates power, cooling design, build and support for efficient carbon reduction, low energy usage and environmental sustainability, including Airedale Smartcool glycol free cooling for the lowest PUE ratings.

The brand new facility will also boast features such as;

• N+1 UPS solution
• Standby diesel generator and additional connection point
• N+1 PDU power distribution
• N+1 DX air conditioning systems
• Bespoke LV switchboard panel
• Cold aisle containment
• Fire detection and suppression systems

Sudlows’ Specialist Projects Director, Andy Hirst, who is in charge of designing the Data Centre facility, commented:

“The innovative design for the new data centre took into account the University’s key aim to operate at optimal efficiency and will provide an annualised PUE measurement of 1.4 and most importantly provides high level resilience. In the colder months of the year, the facility will even reach an aspirational 1.2 PUE”.

Gregor Waddell, Anglia Ruskin University’s Acting IT and Media Director said:

“The new data centre is central to our commitment to reduce and control our energy consumption and key to our continued investment in modern, student focused IT and media.”

Adrian Honeybill Consultant for PTS Consulting working on behalf of Anglia Ruskin added:

“Sudlows has presented a design that provides the University with a 'value for money' data centre, both now and in the future. We are all looking forward to the data centre coming into operation later this year.”

Anglia Ruskin University are implementing the new data centre facility as part of their ambitious 5 year IT strategy.
