STEMMER IMAGING has added the Phoenix HD-/SDI family of high-speed digital frame grabbers from Active Silicon to its product portfolio. The Phoenix HD-/SDI can be used in medical engineering or broadcasting situations, to present, record, archive or post-process high-resolution images or video sequences on a PC.
The PCIe boards acquire digital data from a variety of uncompressed 8-bit and 10-bit SDI and HD-/SDI sources. The boards capture standard definition SDI-sources of 270 Mbits/s up to 540 Mbit/s, as well as high definition HD-/SDI sources, such as Toshiba's full-HD camera, the IK-HD1, with data rates up to 1.484 Gbit/s.

Both PCIe x1 and x4 bus versions are available for HD-/SDI connection to a single HD-/SDI/SD-/SDI camera or dual connection to two cameras for parallel image capture. In the PCIe x1 version approximately 180 Mbyte/s can be transferred into the PC rising to almost 700 Mbyte/s for the PCIe x4 version. The acquired image data can be mapped into a suitable format and be transferred directly to a graphics display or be saved and processed. Various I/Os enable easy interfacing and communication.

Rapid system development and integration is possible using either drivers from STEMMER IMAGING’s Common Vision Blox software library or Active Silicon's own SDK. Setting up complete recording and archiving systems for DVI or HD-/SDI cameras is possible with STEMMER IMAGING’s own movie PC systems.
