With speakers from other iconic design brands soon to be confirmed, discounted early bird tickets have already been released by organisers, Design Network North.
Supported by The Design Council and business services firm RTC North, the ‘Design Means Business’ conference has a limited number of discounted one or two-day tickets available.
Design Means Business is an opportunity to listen, learn and be inspired by experts from multinational companies, design led businesses and design agencies.
Covering a range of design topics, delegates will be able to join interactive masterclasses and workshops and listen to keynote speakers from world leading organisations.
Each element of the programme aims to enhance delegates’ learning experience, regardless of their level of design experience.
The conference will build on the success of Design Network North’s monthly ‘Rise & Design’ networking events, which have attracted over 800 attendees since the project was launched in March 2009.
Conference masterclasses will include topics such as fostering creativity, customer focused design, product design, accessing new markets, branding and the design process.
Mike Dowson is Project Director at Design Network North. He said:
“Both days of the conference are applicable to most businesses, but particularly those interested in learning more about how new product and service development, innovation, branding and communication design will improve their competitiveness and performance.
“It’s a great opportunity for industry to reconnect with the subject of design and meet the design community, while designers get to meet potential clients.”
The North East based network has already boosted the regional economy to the tune of £7m according to an independent report by Brightpurpose Consulting – a company specialising in evaluating public sector investment.
Funded by One North East and the European Regional Development Fund, the Design Network North is part of Solutions for Business, the government’s package of publicly funded business support designed to help companies start and grow.
Based at RTC North in Sunderland, until the construction of the Northern Design Centre at the heart of Gateshead’s Baltic Business Quarter, the network will benefit from £857,396 of European Union investment from the ERDF Competitiveness Programme 2007-13, managed by regional development agency One North East.
The ERDF programme is bringing over £250m into the North East to support innovation, enterprise and business support across the region.
