Festo will be introducing an expanded range of energy efficiency services and new training initiatives, together with a new high speed fault-finding camera, and a number of new safety products to help manufacturers comply with the EN ISO 13849-1 standard on machinery safety.
Festo already offers several energy-saving services to help manufacturers analyse and reduce the consumption of compressed air, and thereby save on operational costs. It is now about to expand its level of service in this area significantly, by entering into a collaborative arrangement with the specialist leakage detection company LeekSeek International. This completely independent, third-party company maintains the world’s most comprehensive database on leakage detection projects, and has an impressive track record in helping customers reduce their energy costs.

Representing Festo Didactic, the training arm of Festo, Gary Fuller will present a case study in the Seminar Theatre titled ‘The I.D.E.A.L. way of Saving Compressed Air Energy’ which will outline a practical step-by-step method for reducing compressed air usage at the machine level. Based on the proven five stage I.D.E.A.L approach (I = Identification of Needs, D = Develop the Knowledge, E = Engage the Participant, A = Apply the Knowledge, L = Lean Results) delegates will leave with a clear idea of how to apply this process in their organisation and with concrete examples of the dramatic results that can be achieved.

Festo will also be showing a new high speed camera system which can assist manufacturers in diagnosing the cause of production errors in high speed lines, as well as a number of new safety products, for the first time in the UK. These include the MS6-SV pneumatic soft-start and exhaust valve, which provides quick and reliable venting of compressed air supplies in the event of an emergency. The valve fully complies with the new EN ISO 13849-1 standard on machinery safety, which replaces the existing EN 954-1 safety standard on November 30, 2009, and forms part of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC that becomes mandatory at the end of 2009.
