ESAB Launches Comprehensive Range Of Roller Beds

All of these new welding automation products are robust and high-quality, having been designed to withstand the harsh conditions often encountered in fabrication shops. Customers have an extensive choice, with sizes and features to suit a broad array of applications and the roller beds can be used in conjunction with ESAB's A2-A6 process controller PEK system for submerged arc welding, GMAW welding and arc gouging. For relatively simple applications, the CD 5-120 and CI 5-120 are conventional roller beds (driven and idler types), with features such as rollers with durable polyurethane tyres and over-sized bearings. A solid-state inverter gives precise speed control, and a cast steel gearbox with double worm gears gives smooth operation and minimal backlash.

Although otherwise similar to the models above, the CD-xxx-DB and CI-xxx-IB units are available as motorised and idler types with a bogie to facilitate longitudinal positioning using floor-mounted rails.

SD 5-100 and SI 5-100 roller beds have the added advantage of a self-alignment feature, the workpiece is supported by two pivoted roller pairs (smaller diameters are supported just on the inner rollers but this still provides a self-alignment function). While remaining otherwise similar, the SD 5-100 DB and SI 5-100 IB self-aligning idler roller beds are equipped with a rail bogie.

Where it is desirable to have control over positioning, the FIT 30, 60 and 100 idler roller beds are conventional units but with independently adjustable rollers to enable the two parts of the assembly to be aligned with each other.

Taking this concept a step further, the FIR 35, 75 and 100 roller beds have four independently adjusted idler rollers, two for each part of the assembly. In addition, a pair of cross rollers can be raised to support the completed assembly.

Finally, the FUB 30 is a compete Fit-Up Bed that consists of one powered and one idler roller bed, four independently adjustable rollers to align the two sections of the fabrication, and a robust frame onto which the other components are mounted.
