Nowadays every organisation needs an effective power management strategy within their ‘business continuity and disaster recovery plan’ to protect against powercuts. In densely populated areas, where space is at a premium, companies may not have the room to accommodate a standby generator and fuel tank or simply may not have the budget. In such instances, shentongroup’s Powercall service provides a cost effective and space saving solution that negates the need for large capital expenditure by providing a contract whereby a standby generator is supplied on an emergency callout basis.
Now when a powercut occurs, the Bank of Cyprus UK’s UPS instantly steps in to supply battery backup power whilst Powercall’s 24/7 control room despatches a generator from a local depot. Upon arrival the delivery engineer connects the generator to the pre-fitted connection point and advises the customer to switch over to the generator. An indicator lamp is fitted to the changeover switch to advise the customer when the mains power is restored.
Since it was launched in January 2005, Powercall has received a large number of responses and orders from companies across a wide range of market sectors including comms networks, FM companies, healthcare organisations, SME’s, local authorities and nationwide multi-site applications. With the demand for emergency power set to grow at 7% per annum over the next five years due to increasingly extreme weather and a less secure mains power supply, shentongroup is finding a high demand for its Powercall service.
