Arrow Electronics EMEA chosen by STMicroelectronics for SPEAr embedded processors distribution - Arrow’s extensive European engineering services key to selection

The ST SPEAr family of embedded microprocessors offers powerful processing cores with performance of up to 3000 MIPS and can manage external memory resources (DDR2/3, Flash) and a wealth of peripherals while remaining flexible enough to serve a broad range of applications. Combining an ARM926EJ-S 333MHz processor core with a rich set of audio, communication and connectivity interfaces, including those for Ethernet and USB Device/Host, I2C, the SPEAr3x0 MPU family is optimised to meet the particular challenges posed by human-machine interface, communications and security applications. The SPEAr600 delivers enhanced performance as a result of dual ARM926EJ-S cores, powerful connectivity features like Gigabit Ethernet, and a programmable LCD interface. The recently-introduced SPEAr13xx utilises a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 600MHz to deliver an optimised combination of processing performance and power reduction for next-generation communication and audio/video appliances.
