Parker Electromechanical Automation has launched a new drive family, the Motornet DC. The Motornet DC is a brushless servomotor with integrated electronics for flexible and modular mechatronic solutions. Compared with a traditional solution where the electronics is de-centralised or mount on the motor's rear end, the Motornet DC alternative offers a very compact system. Typical applications for the Motornet DC include packaging machines and rotary tables with numerous motors mounted on board.

WEG has added three new frame sizes to its W22X line of flameproof motors, the 560, 630 and 710. Innovations adopted in the W22X design include a tube array for optimising through draught cooling. This provides air ducts with both axial and radial flowpaths to maximise cooling of the rotor, stator and critical components such as the bearings. It is allied with an aerodynamic fan and fan cover, designed for efficient air flow generation whilst minimising the noise output.

Introduced as a completely new category for Kollmorgen's range of direct drive torque motors, the CARTRIDGE DDR motor is now fully available from Heason Technology. The innovative and very compact design includes a hollow shaft rotor, a stator and high resolution feedback device, all pre-aligned in a bearing-less assembly and enclosed in a durable housing complete with power and feedback connectors.

Crouzet has introduced the astonishingly quiet DCmind Brush range of direct current brush motors. These soundless motors, even under full load, offer exceptional efficiencies, long service life, and a wide range of gearboxes and accessories. Because of its noiseless operation, the DCmind Brush motor series is particularly well suited to applications in medical, laboratory, industrial and high performance printing industries. They can also be used in a variety of other applications such as pumps and valves, railways, and aeronautics.

Most large commercial blast furnaces receive tons of raw materials on a continuous basis; this requires a conveying system which is capable of carrying large skips at high speeds to the top of the furnace. The open gear systems which are traditionally used to drive the skip winches are characterised by loud operation and heavy vibration, which inevitably leads to wear and ultimately reliability issues.

Mclennan Servo Supplies has introduced a new range of IP65 rated high-torque stepper motors from its USA based distribution partner Applied Motion Products. Aimed at severe environment applications where water spray and dust ingress are prevalent, the HW series covers NEMA sizes 23, 24 and 34 in a range of standard stack lengths for holding torque to 7.5 Nm.

PITTMAN has introduced configurable DC motor 3D model downloads. The 3D model system is an online system through the PITTMAN website that allows an engineer to fully configure a DC brush motor with a wide variety of optional components such as planetary and spur gearboxes, brakes, and encoders.

Parker Trilogy’s ironless linear motors offer high forces and rapid accelerations in a compact package. With forces ranging from 5.5lbf (878.6N) continuous up to 5.5lbf ((24.5N) and up to 883lbf (3928N) peak, the I-Force family offers a superior combination of performance and size.

NUM announces two new brushless servomotor ranges for CNC machinery applications which provide major savings by eliminating the need for a separate encoder cable. Machine builders can now use a single drive-to-motor cable for each motion axis, thereby reducing cabling, speeding installation/commissioning, and improving system performance. NUM estimates that for a typical high-end CNC machine installation involving 20 metre cable lengths, the new technology can reduce total motor cabling costs by as much as 20 percent per axis.

W22 high-efficiency electric motors and variable speed drives from WEG have been chosen by leading industrial group Atlas Copco to power its latest range of energy-efficient screw blowers. The 90, 132 and 160 kW motors and drives are being used in models from Atlas Copco’s ZS range of blowers, supplied for a range of demanding applications including wastewater treatment, food and beverage manufacture and chemical processing.
