National Instruments Hosts Virtual Automated Test Summit in Europe

National Instruments is hosting the first online Pan-European Automated Test Summit, which features technical sessions on identifying trends and overcoming new challenges in automated test. The Pan-European Automated Test Summit is a free, full-day event hosted live on the Internet on Nov. 27 at 9am GMT. During the summit, attendees can view keynote presentations, watch technical sessions, participate in live Q&A forums and interact with vendors in the exhibitor area. Virginia Tech Engineering Students Use NI LabVIEW to Develop a Fully Autonomous Humanoid Robot
Engineering students from the Robotics & Mechanisms Laboratory (RoMeLa) at Virginia Tech have developed a bipedal humanoid robot using the National Instruments LabVIEW graphical system design platform. The Dynamic Anthropomorphic Robot with Intelligence (DARwIn) was originally developed to study human locomotion for the research and development of prosthetic limbs. DARwIn achieves full range of motion and accurately imitates human movement so effectively that it was quickly modified to play soccer for entry into RoboCup, an international robotic soccer competition created to promote research in robotics, artificial intelligence and related fields. As a result, it has been accepted as the first-ever U.S. entry into RoboCup in the humanoid division.

Built on NI LabVIEW graphical programming, LabVIEW SignalExpress delivers an easy-to-use, drag-and-drop environment for configuring data-logging and instrument control applications. The latest version of LabVIEW SignalExpress introduces several performance improvements including a Project Analyser to help engineers and scientists identify and address common measurement mistakes. LabVIEW SignalExpress 2.5 is also available in fully localised French, German and Japanese versions.

LabVIEW Embedded Platform extended to Support New Analog Devices Blackfin, Freescale ColdFire Processors
National Instruments has announced the extension of the NI LabVIEW 8.5 graphical system design platform to new embedded targets with the release of the NI LabVIEW Embedded Module for ADI Blackfin® Processors 2.5 and the LabVIEW Microprocessor SDK (Software Development Kit) 2.5. With a graphical system design approach, engineers and scientists can use LabVIEW to rapidly design and prototype their embedded systems and easily deploy them to targets such as 32-bit processors and FPGAs. The latest versions of the LabVIEW Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors and the LabVIEW Microprocessor SDK expand the available deployment options for engineers and scientists by adding support for new, high-performance convergent multimedia Blackfin processors as well as introducing support for the Freescale ColdFire processor. The software packages also deliver 18 percent increased efficiency in code generation.

National Instruments Introduces PXI Express RF Vector Signal Generator with 20 MHz Onboard Signal Processing
National Instruments has announced the release of the NI PXIe-5672, an RF vector signal generator that delivers signal generation from 250 kHz to 2.7 GHz, 20 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth and real-time data streaming at up to 25 MS/s. The NI PXIe-5672 also features a PXI Express interface that makes it possible to stream data from hard disk or PC memory at the full output rate of the instrument. The NI PXIe-5672 is compatible with all NI PXI, PXI Express modular instruments and NI LabVIEW modulation algorithms, making it easy for engineers to develop a complete PXI-based RF record and playback system, as well as broadcast video and general-purpose communication test systems.
