igus PPDS Floating Towing Arm
Long energy chain movements are now made safe and secure with igus PPDS floating towing arms, with condition monitoring built-in - Energy chains with particularly long travels, such as those found in large crane applications, can sometimes suffer lateral misalignment due to wear on trolley rails. igus PPDS floating towing arms can eliminate this misalignment safely and cost effectively.
The Floating Towing Arms include integrated ‘PPDS’ condition monitoring system. This is a special component, developed as part of the modular cable management system, and its function is to read the push-pull forces of the moving system electronically, and shut the system down safely if certain forces are encountered – such as a mechanical obstruction. In case of an error, an alarm message is immediately and automatically generated and sent by e-mail or SMS. An analysis of the error message is thus feasible at any required location. The stored data can also be retrieved and analysed retrospectively for up to three months.

igus continues to solve many of the design challenges we face in cable management applications. As with all igus products it is performance tested and proven in many real world applications, as well as being virtually maintenance free, space saving, quick and easy to install and weather resistant. And, because the PPDS floating towing arm is part of the modular system it saves time on project planning, sourcing and ordering which saves cost.
