FLIR is renowned for pushing the boundaries of infrared and with the introduction of its new FLIR A615, the company has done it again. This is the world’s first 640x480 focal plane array, uncooled infrared camera to be fully compliant with both GeniCam and GigE Vision protocols. This combination makes this high resolution, high frame rate camera instantly ready for quick and easy network installation, enabling the user to take full advantage of plug-and-play with machine vision software from National Instruments, Cognex, Matrox, MVTec, Stemmer Imaging and many more.
The introduction of the fixed-mounted FLIR A615 gives manufacturers and system integrators even more reason to choose infrared over a visible light camera for high-end automated inspection and process control. Its ability to provide accurate temperature measurement with high quality, high speed imaging gives the FLIR A615 the edge for a wide range of more dynamic vision applications.
Typical application examples would be found in automated part production and assembly, steel mill operations, food processing, product packaging, electronics production, non-destructive testing and car manufacturing. This camera is designed to make it easy for the manufacturer to validate and increase product quality and throughput, minimise waste and improve profitability. It can also enhance working safety as an effective early warning system for fire/hotspots.
Compact and eminently affordable, the FLIR A615 comes complete with built-in Gigabit Ethernet. The benefit of the camera’s 640x480 detector is obviously greater resolution and detail; the focal plane array provides over 300,000 measurement points. And its ability to capture the finest image detail and temperature differences is also enhanced by its <50mK sensitivity.
The high radiometric video frame rate of 50 Hz on the FLIR A615 can be greater enhanced by the windowing function. This function allows the camera’s processing engine to reduce the window size to offer even greater processing speeds. At 640x240 100 Hz can be achieved and at 640x120 an impressive 200 Hz.
Compliance with GigEVision and GenICam standards allows the FLIR A615 to be integrated with a wide variety of similarly compliant equipment and is supported by a choice of third party software. Trigger and synchronisation capabilities enable it to control, or be controlled by a host of other types of equipment. And when used with wireless and fibre optic line adaptors this high performing camera can be used almost anywhere, including over long distances.
The FLIR A615 is supplied as standard with a 25° lens. FLIR remains the only infrared manufacturer to produce its own lenses, an important benefit as it ensures the lens is optimally suited to the application.
