FLIR is the world leader in this technology. One of the reasons why it has achieved this status is its continuous and parallel development of both infrared camera hardware and analysis and reporting software. The combination is powerful and highly effective.
At Ecobuild 2011, FLIR will demonstrate its wide range of infrared cameras that has been specifically developed for the building and energy management sector. These models are designed for the quick diagnosis of building conditions and easy non-invasive and non-destructive testing of fabric and structures. Within the range there is an infrared camera to suit every building application and budget.
The choice starts with the FLIR i5 and i7, the smallest, lightest and most affordable infrared cameras on the market. They are incredibly easy to use and require no former experience. It really is a matter of point, shoot and detect energy loss or poor insulation, for example.
Next stage up is the FLIR B-Series, also compact troubleshooting cameras but with high resolution and more features such as Picture-in-Picture, a function for overlaying the IR image onto the visual image whilst retaining all measurement data. This range also introduces Meterlink™, a wireless connection that allows a clamp meter or moisture meter to relay its readings direct to the to FLIR camera.
For the professional thermographer the FLIR range has four choices. Models in this series provide thermal sensitivity of <50mk and contain features such as dewpoint and insulation alarms, interchangeable lenses, IR video streaming, copy to USB and thermal fusion. The top end models also support Panorama, a clever image-stitching capability that allows every pixel to be transferred to a composite image complete with its radiometric data.
The FLIR B620 and B660 are top-of-the-range models that provide every feature for the thermal imaging expert. Their 640 x 480 pixel resolution provides thermal sensitivity of <30mk. Features include 3.2 megapixel visual camera, contrast optimisation, radiometric IR video streaming, built-in GPS and digital zoom.
All cameras in the range come, as standard, with FLIR QuickReport software that allows the user to organise and analyse radiometric images and present them in a report in just three easy steps. FLIR also provides a free online tool for evaluating infrared images, WebViewer.
For advanced analysis of building structures, FLIR BuildIR software is the ultimate package. It quantifies building related problems such as structural and insulation defects, thermal bridges and moisture ingress and includes ten professional, pre-designed report templates for easy and comprehensive report creation. These include the energy cost comparison report that allows the easy calculation of the achievable cost savings when the identified structural problems are fixed.
