Continous Process Monitoring With Infrared
To achieve a competitive edge manufacturers are increasingly considering machine vision, and for many, systems based on infrared technology are proving the ideal choice. They are enabling manufacturers to validate and increase product quality and throughput, minimise waste and improve profitability. FLIR Systems is the world leader in infrared technology and markets a range of cameras that are compact enough to fit into the tightest spaces on the production line.
They are also attractively priced enabling them to be integrated and synchronised in numbers for comprehensive monitoring or stereoscopic applications.

The latest model to be introduced to this range is the FLIR A15. In common with all the other thermal imaging cameras in this series, it has been designed specifically for machine vision, providing the versatility and plug-and-play compatibility through GigE Vision and GenICam protocols. Power over Ethernet also helps to make this a neat and compact solution.

Measuring just 40mm x 43mm x 106mm, the FLIR A15 produces thermal images of 160 x 128 pixels. It is ideal for applications that do not require the higher image quality of the FLIR A35 or A65 models.

Image frequency is 60Hz and users can choose the performance that best suits the need; 8 bit steaming of high contrast non-radiometric data or 14-bit image streaming that is suitable for a wide range of real time vision applications.

The FLIR A15 captures images in a wide temperature range from -40◦C to +550◦C. A choice of lenses and accessories enable the camera to be customised for a wide variety of applications. It is supplied as standard with FLIR Tools software that allows images to be viewed and analysed easily and includes functions such as time versus temperature plots.

For those requiring greater functionality and the ability to record images, FLIR Tools+ can be specified. The new camera is also compatible with a variety of third party software such as IMAQ Vision and Halcon.
