(March 25, 2009) Specialist electrochemical sensor manufacturer Analytical Technology announces the launch of its new PQ45 Portable Water Quality Monitor. Companies in the water and industrial industries are now seeking rugged, field-deployable systems which enable the recording of water quality data in a variety of environments. Capable of monitoring a wide range of parameters in water, the PQ45 system is ideal where temporary measurements are required, with options for providing either outputs for telemetry, on board data logging or GSM data logging. A free-of-charge product brochure can be downloaded at www.analyticaltechnology.com.

The continuous monitoring of parameters such as chlorine, pH dissolved oxygen and conductivity in both municipal and industrial water systems is commonly undertaken to document process performance and to ensure regulatory compliance. These measurements are frequently taken by fixed line-powered instrumentation for permanent use in a single location. However, the increasing demand for measurements in other areas of the water system is driving organizations to seek instrumentation specifically designed for temporary monitoring that are capable of logging water quality data in remote locations such as service reservoirs or at the ends of water distribution systems.

The new PQ45 Portable Water Quality Monitor from Analytical Technology is designed for short to medium -term recording of specific parameters in water and provides measurements of combined and free residual chlorine, dissolved ozone, dissolved oxygen, pH and ORP, conductivity and residual chlorine dioxide. The free chlorine, combined chlorine, dissolved ozone and residual chlorine dioxide systems all maintain sensor polarisation, even when the monitor is not in operation.

The portable system is supplied in a durable case with provision for user-supplied locks to prevent tampering. Sensors and flowcells are mounted on an internal hinged panel for easy access. The optional data logger is located on the front of the panel, and is removable by simply unplugging input cables. The data logger contains an internal battery suitable for up to six months of operation. Analytical Technology's PQ45 Monitor is used in a wide range of industries including municipal water management, pharmaceutical water distribution, food and beverage processing and chiller systems.
