A portable analyser designed for monitoring emissions from ships is now available for sale or rent from Ashtead Technology. The Testo 350 MARITIME is a portable analyser certified for the measurement of marine diesel engine exhaust gas emissions according to MARPOL Annexe VI and NOx Technical Code 2008. It also complies with the directive on marine equipment and has the MED mark of conformity 0098/2018.

The MDA 8000HD Motor Drive Analysers launched today (October 1) by Teledyne LeCroy leverage the WaveRunner 8000HD High Definition Oscilloscope (HDO) platform of eight analogue channels, 12-bit vertical resolution at all times, up to 5 Gigapoints of acquisition memory (1.25 Gigapoints on all eight channels), 10 GS/s sample rate, and bandwidths up to 2GHz.

During a routine inspection at a substation, a Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) electrician felt heat blast his face as he passed within a couple of metres of an energised transformer bank. Some heat is expected, of course, but the intensity of it alarmed him. He immediately grabbed a handheld thermal imaging camera from his van and verified that there was a major issue and the system was shut down for investigation.
